The One Thing To NOT Do Before Ketamine

Hello friends.

Welcome back to Ketamine Connections. I am your host, Anna Krishtal, AKA your Ketamine Coach. And today we are diving into a topic that I am very passionate about. Not to do before you embark on your ketamine journey, spoiler alert. It's something that almost everyone feels tempted to do. It's something that I'm going to urge you to resist doing with all your mind.

Okay. I know you're curious. I'll get to the point in just a second, but first, let me ask you this. How. Have you ever had the experience of planning a vacation and maybe obsessively scrolling through, I don't know, Google reviews or TripAdvisor or Yelp, um, reading the reviews of the hotel and I don't know, just getting like a lay of the land.

If that sounds like you, you might be the kind of person who also feels compelled to read up on every single ketamine trip story you can find before your first session. Um, And let me tell you right now, that is the one thing that you should never do before ketamine. So stop. If you already started, don't worry about it, but stop right now.

I know. I know. Coming from a ketamine coach who listens to trip stories pretty much every day, it might sound a little hypocritical, maybe a little ironic, but trust me, there is a really good reason for this. Okay, so why am I telling you to not dive headfirst into reading or listening to other people's trip stories before your own session?

Yes, I listen to trip stories all the time. I love them. I'm gonna let you know when it is appropriate to listen to them, but why not before your own session? journey. Okay. So the deal is that every single person's experience with ketamine is uniquely their own. And you'll even notice that when you begin your own ketamine journeys, or if you're already in them, each ketamine journey is also unique and also its own.

So yes, there are common themes like, I don't know, feeling a deep sense of, you know, sense of connection, confronting past emotions, or even experiencing like a ego death or ego dissolution. But the way that these things manifest can be wildly different from person to person. When you read someone else's trip stories, it's easy to start expecting.

And maybe if it sounds really cool, even hoping that your experience is going to be similar, similar, and that's where things can get tricky. There are different forms of listening and looking up someone's trip story is called priming. It's like when someone spoils the twist ending of a movie for you.

Even though you try to watch the movie with an open mind, you can not help but keep that spoiler alert in the back of your head. So instead of fully enjoying the experience or even fully experiencing the story as it unfolds, you're Um, looking for something, maybe clues or like anticipating that twist or something that already has you primed to have your direction and focus in a certain area.

It changes the way that you experience the entire movie. And just like that, hearing someone else's ketamine trip story can prime your subconscious, making you expect certain things instead of allowing your own unique experience to unfold naturally. A little bit more about priming, uh, just because I think it's fascinating and I want to educate you about your subconscious mind.

So priming is when your subconscious mind gets subtly influenced by suggestions, images, stories, movies, media, so many things, and it starts to shape your expectations around them. Um, Transcribed The subconscious mind is incredibly powerful. It is process. It's processing speed is much faster than the conscious mind, and it loves to create stories.

So it might see something, hear something, experience something, and latch onto that idea and run with it. So if you've ever been primed with a particular trip story, like someone seeing an intricate pattern or feeling like they're. Floating in outer space, your subconscious mind. Might try to recreate that experience for you.

But here's the thing ketamine works best when you are open to whatever comes up naturally, without the preconceived notions or the expectations. So if you go in with someone else's story. You might end up feeling disappointed or misinterpreting your own experience because it didn't match what you heard about it.

You want your first ketamine experience to be yours and yours alone. It's a deeply personal journey. The best way to get the most out of it is to go in with a clean slate. Fresh, open mind. free from other people's ideas, suggestions, narratives, or experiences. Which by the way, if you have not already listened to my episode about social media, that is a good one to listen to because it talks about this different from like a different angle.

Okay, so when you go in fresh, it gets to be like a movie that you haven't seen the trailer for or read any reviews about, like a really good movie . So you get to fully immerse yourself in the experience without the preconceived ideas of what it should be like, or if it's going right or if you're doing it right.

And. The more untainted your first ketamine journey is by expectations. I don't know. I just think it gets to be more your own. And then once you're done with your ketamine journey, like your series of however many sessions you're doing, then you can dive into all the other trip stories that you want, because then it can be really fun to have this compare and contrast notes with others that have had same same but different experiences.

So, Make sure that your ketamine journeys are your own, unfiltered, as much as possible, and then maybe dive into trip stories. Like I said, I love trip stories. So have at them. Now here's the thing. If you have already been exposed to some trip stories or find that you're having a hard time avoiding them.

I. I want you to stay calm and trust that this is part of your process, right? Learning to trust the process is a big part of embarking on a ketamine journey. So it's not the end of the world. You can absolutely relax and be happy. In the surrender that whatever might be influencing you, whatever might have primed you is perfect.

You want to do the best wherever you can, but if you do end up absorbing something, it's just a part of your unique journey. I've had it happen in my journeys. It's honestly really perfect. So If you've already started reading trip stories, please stop unless you're done with your ketamine journeys. But if you have not yet started and you're exploring ketamine, then my encouragement is research other things.

And okay, this is for the veterans out there. This is for the people on the other side of their ketamine journeys. Those have already had your ketamine experience. I really need you to listen up. And do your best to not share your ketamine experience with someone considering ketamine, but hasn't tried it yet.

I know you're excited. I know that the experience has been mind blowing. I know that it has changed your life. And I know that maybe it's the complete opposite and you didn't like it. Or it didn't do much for you, right? There's every type of experience, whatever your experience was. I know that it's enticing to tell people about it and just please do your fellow explorers a favor and let them have their own journey.

You don't want to accidentally prime them with your own story or potentially influence their experience. You got to have yours, let them have theirs. So there's a time and a place to share. And whether you are considering ketamine or on the other side of ketamine, let's keep our trip stories responsible.

Let's share them responsibly. All right. That is all I have for you today. Thank you so much for joining me on this episode of ketamine connections. If you found this episode helpful, intriguing, insightful, I would love for you to share it with someone who might benefit from hearing this essential information.

Especially those that are either considering ketamine or going into ketamine. And I want you to remember that the most powerful experiences happen when we let go of expectations and really embrace the unknown. So please stay curious, please continue exploring the mystery, staying open and letting your journey be guided by you
